Stormwater Management

Colonial Heights Stormwater management is an integral service provided by Kerr Environmental Services (KES). KES engineers and scientists collaborate to provide our clients with designs and plans that meet the project need and purpose, while also considering the project’s impact on the surrounding landscape. KES approaches each project individually, bringing forth the knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, low impact development, and/or natural channel design to each stormwater project we encounter. KES is adept at stormwater modeling for design purposes, as well as watershed assessment and planning efforts.

In addition to stormwater design and analysis, KES is keenly aware of the evolving stormwater management regulations and associated guidance for the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements. KES has provided TMDL pollutant load calculations and assisted in preparing application materials for localities receiving state grants for water quality projects, and provided designs to support those calculations. KES personnel also participated in the development of USEPA’s Chesapeake Bay Program TMDL document Recommendations of the Expert Panel to Define Removal Rates for Individual Stream Restoration Projects. KES has also provided support for VPDES permit compliance, as well as SWPPP preparation and inspections.
